A lovely historic Casa with beautiful courtyard, charming owners and great food. We had a 3 course meal with freshly cooked soup, fresh fish and dessert with an ice cold beer - heaven!
Good sized rooms and the place is minutes walk from the centre.
The city is charming too with more buzz than most provincial towns, live music, several bars and especially good at weekends. We checked out a few other Casas and this one was the best!

We visited Santa Clara - which was a great city - try to be there during the weekends if you can - there is a lot of buzz in the city and in the evening the bars and clubs are great fun.
We did not manage to get a booking at this Casa - but had our Dinner and Breakfast there. The Owner and his wife are very hospitable - we saw the rooms - they are really beautiful and full of character. The Courtyard is trully amazing.
The Dinner - CUC 10 / 12 for a great lobster dish and a really nice fish dish - Starter / Main / Desert and coffee - reallly nice fresh food and cooked beautifuly. Even if you dont get a chance to stay here come for Breakfast / Dinner - you will not regret it.
Hope you enjoy it the same way as we did in Santa Clar

Non ho dubbi nel consigliarlo. Finalmente un hostal in vero stile coloniale ma con alcune attenzioni nell'arredo e nella funzionalità che in viaggio fanno piacere. Le stanze sono grandi e con soffitti altissimi, aria condizionata (finalmente ad altezza giusta), pavimento piastrellato d'epoca, bagno in camera (con le classiche porte in legno e vetro) grande, arioso e ristrutturato, doccia con grande piatto, finestre, tanta luce. Addirittura un secondo lavandino nella stanza, quasi un antibagno.
Presa corrente anche a 220.
Tutte le stanze hanno le finestre (alte, con grate esterne bianche e tapparelle che ne consentono una parziale chiusura) che si affacciano su un patio delizioso e fresco, con una fontana centrale, ricco di piante e con tante sedie e poltroncine dove passare piacevolmente qualche ora di relax. Eccellente la pulizia e la cortesia.
Tutta la struttura è eccellente (ci sono un grande corridoio e saloni arredati con gusto e tanti oggetti d'epoca). La colazione e la cena sono servite nel patio ed è assolutamente abbondante e accurata.
La posizione è altrettanto ottima: a 5 minuti a piedi dal parco centrale

Siamo stati in questa casa una notte durante il nostro tour "de la Isla" ma è bastata per apprezzarne tutto. Camere ampie e ben curate con condizionatore. Location affascinante, in stile coloniale.. Bel giardino, ottima cucina, tanta gentilezza e cortesia. Prezzi ottimi e anche posto auto "controllato".

Eines der besten "casas particulares", das wir auf unserer zweiwöchigen Reise durch Kuba hatten. Hier stimmte einfach alles: super saubere und hübsch eingerichtete Zimmer, sehr großzügige Bäder mit gut funktionierender (!) Dusche, traumhafter Innenhof mit chilligen Schaukelstühlen vor den Zimmern, ausgezeichnetes Essen und obendrein noch total nette und hilfsbereite Gastgeber. Sehr zu empfehlen.

Abbiamo soggiornato all' Autentica Pergola alla fine della nostra vacanza a Cuba, eravamo io, il mio compagno e mio figlio di 9 anni. Avevo prenotato via web già a giugno, ed avevo chiamato per confermare, come d'accordo, un paio di giorni prima. Quando siamo arrivati, Carmen e Obregon ci stavano aspettando. La stanza era molto ampia, con aria condizionata, frigo e bagno esclusivo. ma la cosa che più ci ha colpiti è la bellezza della casa, del suo patio e del giardino nel quale poi alla sera abbiamo gustato una cena assolutamente deliziosa (io ho ripreso per 3 volte la loro "Sopa"!) così come una ricca e genuina colazione al mattino. Dato che il nostro volo era stato spostato, ci hanno anche permesso di soggiornare in camera fino alle 3 del pomeriggio. Una casa che consiglio assolutamente per l'eleganza, la posizione assolutamente privilegiata, l'ottima cucina e la cortesia dei proprietari.

The hosts even arranged someone tolook after our rental car during the night. They have a beautiful inner garden,airco and refrigerator (with beer !)in a large and tidy room with a double bed.By far the best guesthouse we stayed in during our 10 day tour in Cuba. We had a pleasure to stay at Hostal AutenticaPergola in July 2011. The house is very beautifull with unique colonialatmosphere and big and very well arranged garden. The rooms are big with private and clean bath. Thehosts Carmen and Carlos are very friendly and helpfull in all unexpected cases(we had a serious car problem and Carlos helped us immediately). The food wasvery delicious and the quantity was absolutely enough (big langosta for a very,very reasonable price). Location is excellent, just 100 mtrs to the centralcity plaza. Full recommendation for this place.

Typisch kubanisch möbliert mit vielFlair und einem neuen Bad. Das Frühstück und das Abendessen servieren Carmenund Obregón im Innenhof. Das Frühstück war das Beste was wir in den Casasbekamen und das Abendessen lies auch keine Wünsche offen. Obregón spricht gutEnglisch und beide sind sehr nett und hilfsbereit. Es war ein tollerAufenthalt, wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt.

We stayed here while doing a 1000 mile road triparound Cuba and this casa summed up exactly what we were looking for: a tasteof real Cuba with refinements thrown in. The casa has been sympatheticallyrenovated and provides an oasis of calm to retreat to. The food, service &atmosphere were all outstanding. Carlos & Carmen were consummate hosts andCarmen even took the day off to accompany us on a highly amusing goose-chase toSagua La Grande and Encrujiada to discover the birthplace of my greatgrandfather who was born in Cuba. After many wrong turns we actually found thevery place where he was born (the building was no longer there however.) I'msure Carlos would have loved to come too, but someone had to 'hold the fort'.By the end of our stay we felt they were true friends & quite seriously ifthey ever want to stay with us in London, there is an open invitation for themto do so.

Estuvimos durante un día, que nos supo a poco, en la casa de Carmen, nos la había recomendado un amigos de Trinidad, la verdad que acertaron de pleno. La Pérgola es una preciosa casa, cómoda, céntrica y con una atención especial, tanto la cena que hicimos en el patio, como el desayuno fueros estupendos, íntimos y con detalle en todo. This casa particular has 3 rooms to rent - all massive with en suites. It has a very central location and beautiful outdoor space. We chose to eat here both nights we stayed as reviews for restaurants in all our guide books were very average and we are really glad we did - it was a full 3 course extravaganza for the some cost as a main course from a paladar and with much better service and food. Very recommended!

Best place to stay in Cuba

Even before we arrived we were made to feel welcome. We phoned ahead to confirm when we would be arriving and they arranged for us to be met at the bus station. When we arrived the building was beautifully restored and the courtyard incredibly peaceful.

Location wise you could walk to the main square, the train museum and even the Che memorial - although it was always nice to come "home" after a long hot day of walking and sit in the cool courtyard and enjoy a glass of wine.

The hosts were friendly, welcoming and warm, but never intrusive. They also served us the best meal we had in Cuba. At one point we mentioned we were having difficulty finding replacement toothbrushes and sure enough 10 minutes later they appeared with a new one for each of us.

If ever you have the good fortune to visit Santa Clara (which is a must if you go to Cuba) then this place is the only one to stay at.

Our stay at Casa La Pergola was far beyond our expectations. The hosts were very kind and helpful, and made us feel at home. The location is great, walking distance from many key sites in Santa Clara. The rooms are very comfortable and clean.

The Casa is beautiful, with an inner garden where breakfast and dinner are served. Our langoustine a la creole dinner prepared by Carmen was by far the most delicious and wonderful meal we had during our stay in Cuba, and probably among the top we've ever had anywhere in the world. It was that good! And it was served to us in the garden, by candle light. Absolutely lovely. We highly recommend this place!

What a wonderful place to stay. Carlos and Carmen were great, the rooms and house lovely, the garden perfect. Not only were they fantastic hosts they also really helped us out when one of us were unwell (not food poisoning, heat stroke etc, just unwell). They found us another Casa for the next night (because they were already fully booked), phoned our next Casa in Trinidad to let them know about our delayed arrival, arranged for our new host to come and collect us and popped in the next day to check we were ok... What more could you ask for? I would recommend this lovely home to anyone.

Nous avons passé une nuit à l'Hostal La Pergola à Santa Clara et avons été très satisfaits : bon diner, compieux petit déjeuner, chambre vaste et calme, salle de bain toute neuve. De plus il est très agréable de diner et de prendre le petit déjeuner dans le patio. On est en plein centre ville mais on a l'impression d'être à la campagne avec le chant des oiseaux et le glou-glou de la fontaine. De plus, l'accueil de Carmen et de Carlos a été charmant. Nous avons pu faire garder notre voiture par un de leurs voisins car il n'y a pas de garage. Bref, cet établissement est à recommander !

“Great first experience of a Casa Particular”

My wife and I, Toronto residents in our 60’s, had a wonderful stay at Hostal “Autentica Pergola” in Santa Clara in early April. We visited Santa Clara for a couple of days, travelling down from our resort on Cayo Santa Maria. It was our first experience of staying in a “casa particular” and could not have been better. Our hosts, Carlos and Carmen Obregon were most obliging and helpful, very hospitable.

LOCATION: La Autentica Pergola is very centrally situated close to the centre of town, Parque Leoncio Videla, walking distance to all the cafes and most places of interest such as monument to the Tren Blindado, Teatro de La Caridad, etc. However, it is quiet at night, as the rooms (3) are off a central courtyard in the traditional colonial style. The cool and welcoming courtyard was decorated with a water fountain and plants of all types, along with exotic birds and a friendly parrot (all of whom are sent upstairs at night, so no noise after hours).

ROOM: Our room, and we presume all others, was very clean, had an ensuite bathroom with shower and washbasin (a second wash basin in the room), refrigerator with water, wine and beer supplied, TV. We found the mattress somewhat on the hard side, but not to worry after a night on the town. Each room had a couple of chairs and table outside for guests to relax, read etc in the cool patio area, a nice touch. MEALS: the dinner at La Autentica Pergola was unquestionably the best meal we had in Cuba, despite staying at a five star resort for the week. Delicious lobster, amazing soup, ice cream, fruits, and also a delightful breakfast the next morning with excellent coffee. All served at our own private table, we felt like privileged guests at a private hideaway. With wine and meals, including the room, the total bill came to around $ 70 CUC, amazing value.

HIGHLIGHT OF VISIT: We took a child’s bike down with us to Cuba. This had been re-furbished from a cast-off by a friend of ours, a serious cycling enthusiast who participates in a volunteer program which regularly donates bikes to Cuba. Through the help of our hosts Carlos and Carmen, we were able to make contact with a young family, and hand the bike over to their 8 year old daughter. A highlight of the trip, as you can imagine.

“Very good casa particular”

We stayed at La Pergola for 3 days this February. This was our first time staying in a privately owned house and we were positively impressed. The room was spacious, the house is at the very centre of Santa Clara and the hosts (Carmen, Carlos and family) were very friendly and prompt to solve any problem we had. They also helped us arrange a taxi to go to Trinidad.

The room service was good and we got fresh water and a big fridge for ourselves. The bathroom was newly refurbished and spotless.

We had breakfast and dinner at the house every day of our stay. Carmen is an excellent cook and we were very pleased with every dish we had. We were given a table for us away from other people, so we really felt at home, eating by ourselves.

We were given a key to the house so that we could come and go at our own will.

On the negative side, the room itself had an old look and most walls in our room had mould on them. The train station is very close, so you'll hear the trains' horn during the night (I personally don't find this annoying, but some people might).

Durante nuestra ruta por Cuba visitamos la ciudad de Santa Clara y tuvimos la suerte de alojarnos en ‘La Pérgola’ y de conocer a sus propietarios, Carlos y Carmen. Estuvimos solo una noche que nos supo a poco por lo bien que nos sentimos. La casa es encantadora y el patio, luminoso y lleno de cuidadas plantas, es el sitio perfecto para descansar. La cena y el desayuno son excelentes y son servidos por Carlos con la misma atención que en un buen restaurante.

La habitación es amplia y el baño dispone de enchufe a 220v y calentador eléctrico (y no una de esas alcachofas eléctricas de tan dudosa seguridad). Cosas prácticas que Carlos cuida para que los clientes se sientan a gusto.
Sin duda una excelente opción para alojarse cuando se visite Santa Clara.

I could not recommend this casa highly enough. The building is fantastic, the owners are so friendly and very helpful. The location is excellent and Santa Clare itself is so worth a visit. It has a great young atmosphere with a great vibrant nightlife.

We stayed in this Casa March 2011. It was the best casa we stayed in Cuba. The owners Carlos and Carmen where overwhelming warm people and they took very well care of us. The food was nice and the garden beautiful. The Casa was very authentique colonial atmosphere.

We are in our late 60s and a gay couple and were welcomed warmly and eat very well. A drink before the meal was available as were wine and beer and spirits. This well maintained period furnished family home boasted large rooms comfortable beds and en-suit newly tiled shower and toilet area. Breakfast was good and generous. The central location is perfect and the area is quiet.

This is the best Casa we experienced in Cuba. Our hosts Carlos and Carmen were a delight. The rooms were large and comfortable, with Air Con, Fan, Fridge and TV. Our room had a double and single bed and modern private bathroom en-suite.

We had originally booked for only for a night, but enjoyed Santa Clara and liked the Casa so much, we asked if we could stay and extra night. We were extremely fortunate that there was a vacancy and were able to stay. If you do stay here, try to book ahead, as I believe this is a popular choice (and rightly so). Carlos does check his email every day and has excellent English.

We elected to have our meals at the Casa and were delighted we did, they were fresh and thoughtfully prepared. Carmen is a superb cook and introduced us to some splendid Cuban cuisine (not just the regular rice and beans) she prepared a variety of accompaniments to our main dishes including the delicious Malanga and Chicharitas which quickly became one of my favourite dishes! Carmen is certainly up there with the best cooks in Cuba!

Breakfasts were equally good, with a choice of fruit, eggs, breads, jams and honey, cheese and hams…

This Casa is wholeheartedly recommended. The house, gardens and guestrooms are beautiful.

El concurso, que busca incentivar el rescate del patrimonio cultural edificado en la provincia de Villa Clara, otorgó en esta edición 2011 sus premios al Complejo Escultórico Memorial Ernesto Che Guevara y a la construcción doméstica Hostal Auténtica Pérgola.

Las menciones fueron para la intervención constructiva en la Iglesia Católica Purísima Concepción de María, del municipio de Quemado de Güines y para la sede de la Unión Nacional de Arquitectos e Ingenieros de la Construcción en Remedios, la Octava Villa.

La edificación donde se localiza el Hostal Auténtica Pérgola, data de 1906 cuando fue adquirida por Ceperino Fernández García, rico casateniente, dueño de fincas y casas en zonas aledañas a Santa Clara. El inmueble fue remodelado en 1914 sobre la planta de una casa colonial, según un proyecto del arquitecto Fernando Martínez del Campo y de los Santos; quien también fue autor de los proyectos del Palacio de Justicia y del Hospital Materno en Santa Clara, y del Teatro América en La Habana.

Los techos de La Auténtica Pérgola, con sus 5.8 m de altura, fueron los primeros de hormigón armado construidos en esta ciudad. El mármol y el acero que se utilizaron para la edificación del inmueble se adquirieron conjuntamente con los empleados en la construcción del Capitolio de La Habana.

Me and my wife visited this Casa in February 2011. It was quite something. The location was right in the center, the building had the colonial vibes, the rooms were clean and spacious. The garden was tranquil with the plants and sounds of water, the food was excellent both with regard to quality and presentation and, finally and very much appreciated, Carlos did everything to make us feel comfortable and happy and provided us with interesting background knowledge. Do I have to say more?

Den lobenden Worten der vorherigen Bewertungen kann ich mich nur anschließen! Die Lage ist fantastisch zentral, das Casa mit dem wunderschönen Innenhof, zu dem sich die Zimmer öffnen, ist wahrlich eine Oase! Die Gastgeber Carmen und Obregon sind unglaublich nett und zuvorkommend. Die Zimmer sind groß und absolut sauber, der Service über jeden Zweifel erhaben. Leider konnte ich aus zeitlichen Gründen nur frühstücken, aber allein wegen des herrlichen Tellers voller frisch zubereiteter Früchte hat sich das schon gelohnt. Ich kann das Casa, welches eigentlich genau "Autentica Pergola" heißt, jedem nur empfehlen, der sich einige Tage in und um Santa Clara aufhält!

Die Casa La Pergola war wunderbar. Das Haus ist sehr groß, in kolonialem Stil und schön. Die Zimmer sind geräumig und sehr sauber. Durch die hohen Räume verliert der Raum etwas an Gemütlichkeit. Die Gastgeber sind sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Wir haben von Carmen ein sehr gutes Abendessen serviert bekommen. Auch das große Frühstück im schönen Innenhof kann sich sehen lassen. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und können diese Unterkunft nur weiterempfehlen.

We had a extra day before returning to Havana from Remedios and our Hosts Lester and Naty in Remedios reserved for us what they called the "Best Casa" in Cuba!
Much of what I would say has been said very well in the other reviews and makes me wish we had spent more time in this casa.
This was the end of a five week tour of the smaller towns and cities in Cuba and it was great to find a bed with a softer mattress.
From the street view the casa looks like any other on the street, what a surprise when you go thru the door.
Everything was done in a very professional but relaxed manner with a laid back atmosphere.
Carlo arranged our taxi to the Viazul.
The detail in the restoration of this casa is remarkable and we will be back.
Carlos has a dry sense of humor, my glib remark to Carlos that " I have to pay you something for our stay" he replyed in perfect english "Oh pay me next year".

I stayed here for over a month in November 2009, and this casa is a big recommendation. It's located just one block away from Parque Vidal (the town center square) and right next to the only boulevard in town. Most notable however is the interior and architecture of the building: a colonial style Spanish house complete with patio/garden onto which all the rooms look out. There are two spatious rooms with double beds, airco, (a never empty) fridge, and private, fully renovated bathrooms.

The owners -a sympathetic couple with a teenage son and daughter- are really nice and hospitable and will go out off their way to make you feel comfortable and at home. Breakfast and dinner is served on the patio looking out over the garden. Very peaceful and something woth taking time for. Not just to relax but also because the meals were copious and the lady of the house is a damn fine cook. (If you ever happen to stay there and they ask you in the morning what you would like for dinner in the evening, just reply with: "Surprise me.")

There are many 'casas particulares' in Santa Clara, but this beats all of the ones I stayed in hands down. If you're planning a stay in Santa Clara, try this place, you won't be disappointed!

This casa is very close to the Parque Vidal, the main square in Santa Clara. The town is quite busy but depite its proximity this casa is extremely quiet. Carlos and Carmen were very obliging hosts, arranging for a taxi to be waiting for us at the bus station and ready with a cup of coffee on arrival.

The house is excellent with a lovely courtyard area where you can sit out and have your meals. Would recommend this - food is plentiful and very nice with a great choice offered. It worked out about 72 cuc per night for dinner (including wine) , bed and breakfast for two of us. Carlos is always around and would be willing to assist with just about anything. Rooms are very comfortable with best shower in Cuba. Would like to have taken this with us! Highly recommended.

Apart from the Che monument, I'd recommend a visit to the Fabrica de Tabacos Costantino Perez Carrodegua (tobacco factory) where you can get a fascinating tour of the cigar factory where the workers hand roll the products whilst a guy at the front of the room reads them the newspaper.

Enchanting. We were only going to stay there 2 nights (due to limited interests in Santa Clara) but stayed for 3 as it was so lovely. Great food and charming hosts.
Beautiful room with a lovely private bathroom. Very quiet.
The food was great whatever you want whenever you want). Loved the banana crisps and the fresh juice in the morning.
Carlos was extremely helpful in arranging transport for our return to Havana as the bus was full. (which we would never have managed) Even for a stopover to visit che monument do not miss this casa- it's just lovely. Also the library in the square is definitely worth a visit (it's free)

After spending some time in Cuba touring around the country, I can say without a doubt that Carmen and Carlos have the best Casa Particular that I have been to. From the moment we arrived, they went out of their way to make our holiday special, all while making it seem effortless. I know we were a lot of work - because we had issues with our Visa's and didn't have money for a few days. They completely trusted us and helped us through the entire frustrating process of wiring money...

The rooms were clean and quiet and relaxing.... the courtyard was beautiful and Carmen and Carlos were a pleasure to meet. You can tell that they put thought into everything. Dinners were far better at their casa than at the local restaurants and for a much more reasonable pricewith lovely atmosphere (candles and music). They even brought us to the airport together on our last day to see us off with hugs and kisses and I feel like we've made dear friends.Highly recommended. It completely made our trip to Cuba.

It was very good. Nice people, clean and in the center of St Clara. We only stayed for one night. We had a good breakfast,our dinner was in the so called best restaurant from St Clara. I forgot the name, it was in a small street, we asked Carlos to bring us there. It was really terrible, don't go there and eat at Carlos and Carmen!!!
Other services they offer: Carlos drove with my husband to a garage because we had to change oil. Very friendly!!

The rooms and atmosphere of this beautifully restored colonial house with stupendous patio garden were absolutely wonderful. Beds were comfortable, all the en-suite facilities worked well, a fridge was provided and stocked with drinks it was possible to buy (saved going out to find bottled water for instance on arrival). it was very central (just around corner from main square) but quiet inside. They arranged for our hire car to be watched safely parked overnight in next street, and helped us with luggage. Carmen made excellent food (we are vegetarians or fish eaters, and she was happy to cater for that). The table was romantically set out for dinner by candlelight right next to the garden. Carlos was incredibly helpful on the Sunday morning when one of us needed hospital tests. He gave up his time to go with us and organised it all within half an hour (all credit to the doctors and other staff there too!) Their hospitality was second to none. Can't recommend it highly enough.

We spent three nights over a two week period with Carlos and Carmen at “La Pergola” and it was one of our most delightful experience after seven trips to Cuba. They are gracious and simple hosts, the food is great and the casa is ideally located near the centre of action in Santa Clara: Parque Vidal. Yet, it is very quiet and relaxing with a central courtyard graced by a fountain and some lovely birds. If your Spanish is not up to par, Carlos’ English is getting better and he will meet you halfway there. They were most reliable in meeting us at the airport and bus station and more than fair in terms of price. The casa itself is a gem, a real museum. (With hot water to boot).
I have no hesitation in recommending “La Pergola”.

Perfectly located downtown, La Pergola was much bigger and more beautiful than I anticipated. Newly renovated colonial architecture and very well kept, it was much much better than a hotel. Our room was huge, comfortable and very clean. En-suite bathroom, hot water, air conditioning and mini fridge stocked with drinks.

Carlos, Carmen and their 2 teens were most gracious hosts, I felt like part of the family. They were super friendly, warm and accommodating, very helpful in planning our activities too! The food was the best I’ve eaten in Cuba, at a very reasonable price and there was plenty of it… Carmen is a fantastic cook! You MUST try her lobster tails when you go! Dinning “al fresco” accompanied by colourful birds singing in the indoor garden, was like our own special little paradise… quiet and peaceful.

The casa is located 1 block away from Boulevard "1889", a main shopping area, and a variety of cafés and restaurants. Only 5 mins walk to the gorgeous Parque Vidal where you can really watch the city come alive. In the park there is a statue of Marta Abreu, bordering the park is the Teatro de La Caridad, the Plaza del Mercado Central, the former City Hall and the Colonia Española de Santa Clara center of dance. Che Guevara’s memorial is a nice 20 mins walk away and El Tren Blindado about 10 mins walk. The airport is 20kms away, which cost 15 CUC by taxi.

La Pergola, the ONLY place to stay when in Santa Clara, you’ll love it! Please say hello from me.

Perfectamente situado en el centro, La Pergola era mucho más grande y más hermoso que yo esperaba. Recién renovado la arquitectura colonial y muy bien cuidada, que era mucho mejor que un hotel. Nuestra habitación era enorme, cómodo y muy limpio. Cuarto de baño, agua caliente, aire acondicionado y mini nevera surtida con bebidas.

Carlos, Carmen y su familia fueron los anfitriones muy amable, me sentía como parte de la familia. Eran super cálido, acogedor y servicial, muy útil en la planificación de nuestras actividades también! La comida era el mejor que he comido en Cuba, a un precio muy razonable y había un montón de él ... Carmen es una cocinera fantástica! Usted debe tratar a su cola de langosta cuando va! Comedor "al fresco" acompañada de coloridos pájaros cantando en el jardín interior, era como nuestro propio paraíso muy especial ... tranquila y pacífica.

La casa se encuentra a 1 cuadra del Boulevard "1889", una zona de tiendas principal, y una variedad de cafés y restaurantes. A sólo 5 minutos a pie del precioso Parque Vidal, donde realmente se puede ver la ciudad cobran vida. En el parque hay una estatua de Marta Abreu, bordeando el parque se encuentra el Teatro de La Caridad, la Plaza del Mercado Central, el antiguo ayuntamiento y de la Colonia Española de Santa Clara, centro de la danza. Memorial del Che Guevara es un buen 20 minutos a pie y El Tren Blindado unos 10 minutos a pie. El aeropuerto está a 20 km de distancia, que costó 15 CUC en taxi.

My Dad and I recently stayed at Hostal Pergola in Santa Clara. Our hosts Carmen and Carlos were so very welcoming, warm and friendly and made us feel at home immediately. The house is outstanding, in a great location about 2 blocks from the main square in town and a half block from the walking street the Boulevar. The room (and indeed, the whole house) was huge and very clean, the bathroom modern, clean and in great working order, the beds comfortable. Didn't need the air conditioner as the enormous windows allowed air throughout. Carlos and Carmen spent over a year renovating their home and it is truly a special place. The floor tile is original, the colour scheme restored, and still plenty of original decorative glasswork in the doors and windows. Meals were very generous and well prepared, and they made sure we were well fed and looked after. I would go out of my way to stay in this casa again and would recommend it to friends and family.

Esta casa particular es increible. En efecto, hay la belleza del lugar, el desayuno es bueno, las habitaciones son grandes y se situa cerca del centro. El interior tiene un estilo colonial con un patio grande y bonito. Podemos hablar con el propietario que es muy simpatico. Aconsejo esta casa en la ciudad de Santa Clara.

I have traveld in Cuba for 5 weeks. And this room was absolute the best one. My first reaction to the owner was: ' Is this a casa particular or a hotel'? It was such a big and beautifull colonial house. But it was really a casa particulares. The room was big and the bathroom clean and there was hot water. The location in close to the center and the food was exelent as wel. The owners are frindly an the man speaks English. I can realy recommand this house!

For a project trip, we stayed for one month and a week in this very beautiful and coze casa. The rooms are very nice furnished with old furnitures. The hosts are very nice persons. Give you a lot of help and information if asked. The breakfirst is very good. The dinners prepared by the house wife are excellent! We really enjoyed staying in this casa.

Hostal muy bonito con familia simpatica y acogedora. El palacio es estupendo, mi habitacion era grande con todas comodidades y la pergola muy linda. Esta ubicado en pleno centro, pero es un lugar muy tranquilo.

We (my partner & 2 friends) stayed here in late December 2009. It was - hands down - the best casa experience in Cuba. The best accommodation, service, food, location. Carlos and Carmen were welcoming, amazingly helpful, and have a lovely, quiet but centrally located casa which is a great base to explore Santa Clara. We are still raving about the wonderful food and hospitality. My advice? Do not miss this place!

Santa Clara, accommodation for 2 nights in the best B&B in Cuba

We had a very pleasent stay in one of the two rooms. Breakfast and for one night a dinner was perfect and with a reasonable price. We had the other night a dinner in a restaurant in town which was horrible: cold food with less taste. The dinner we had in La Pergola was realy good with a friendly atmosphere.

The casa particular is direct in the center which is very conveniant to experience the center of the city by walking. In the city of Santa Clara are not so many things to do, but good for 2 days. The cigar factory (also close to La Pergola) is worthwile to visit as well.

We liked the people running that place who have been very helpful in any respect.

This was a wonderful Casa. I stayed here with my mom, my sister and 6 month old daughter. The family is very friendly and extremely helpful.

The rooms are spacious and the common garden area is like a little oasis. I would highly recommend this casa to others visiting Santa Clara.

Estuve con una amiga solo 1 dia en la Pergola pero fue una de las experiencias mas positivas del viaje. Obregon enseguida nos recibio como si fueramos reyes y nos ofrecio una estancia tranquila y placentera. Desde las habitaciones amplias y limpias hasta el patio encantador lleno de plantas y pajaros de colores y la cena suculenta. Y sorpresa al despertar para el desayuno...pero eso tendreis que descubrirlo solitos...un abrazo. David

I had the good luck to stay this casa P, and what a delight it was. It made my trip to the lovely town of Santa Clara even nicer. The owners are ever so helpful and friendly, the food great and the setting amazing. It was like a four star hotel - restored with tonnes of love and care. An evening sitting the rocking chair looking at the beautiful garden and drinking rum is not one to be forgotten... Beautiful Cuba

En la ciudad de Santa Clara, distante a unos 3 KM de la casa de huéspedes Auténtica Pérgola, se encuentra el Conjunto Escultórico Comandante Ernesto Guevara que está integrado por la Plaza, la Tribuna, el Museo y el Memorial. A sus lados, 14 palmas simbolizan la fecha del natalicio del Che.

La Tribuna muestra una escultura en bronce de 6,80 metros de alto del Che Guevara, y un mural que refleja con figuras a relieve momentos del último proceso insurreccional cubano.

El Museo muestra de forma permanente documentos, objetos y fotografías históricas sobre la vida y obra del Che.

El Memorial es el espacio que guarda los restos de los combatientes que guiados por él lucharon en la guerrilla boliviana.

La Pergola Guesthouse, very highly recommended in Santa Clara

We arrived late in the evening without a prior reservation and were immediately welcomed with open arms. The guesthouse itself is very beautiful with a gorgeous inner courtyard - perfect for relaxing when the hustle and bustle of town gets a little too much! The room was spotlessly clean and has all the amenities you need - en-suite bathroom, hot water, air-con and fridge. The family are very friendly and make you feel very welcome (they speak some English). The food was absolutely delicious and there was plenty of it! The casa particular itself is very centrally located - about 2 mins walk into the main square. Would highly recommend.
